Apply to Montgomery Blair High School's Communication Arts Program

APPLICATION

The common application for all application programs in Montgomery County will be available in the middle of October through ParentVue. There are no supplemental resources, teacher recommendations, or a special test needed. Applications are due in November each year. Decision notifications are available in early February. REQUIREMENTS FOR ENROLLMENT

Only eighth grade students who live in or go to school in the Downcounty Consortium may apply to be a part of the CAP. Applicants must have a B average or better in honors-level English and Social Studies courses. Once admitted to the program, students are required to successfully complete the thirteen CAP courses, maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA, and complete the CAP Portfolio to graduate with the CAP certificate.

PREPARATION FOR SUCCESS IN THE WORLD BEYOND

Throughout CAP, there is a strong emphasis on preparation for the college experience. Recent graduates currently attend American University, Barnard, Boston University, Brown University, Bryn Mawr College, California Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo, Concordia University, Montreal, DePaul University, Emerson College, Georgetown University, Haverford College, Jewish Theological Seminary, McDaniel College, New York University, Northeastern University, Northwestern University, Oberlin College, Pitzer College, Rochester Institute of Technology, Smith College, Stanford University, Syracuse University, Temple University, The College of William and Mary, The Ohio State University, Towson University, Trinity College, Tufts, University of Maryland, University of California, Berkeley, University of California, Irvine, University of Florida, University of Miami, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina, University of Pittsburgh, University of Wisconsin, Washington University, Williamette University, and Xavier University.

SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION

CAP students are provided with the same transportation services as afforded students in MCPS magnet programs. Activity buses run after school Tuesday through Thursdays.
